South West based charitable housing association BCHA was founded over 50 years ago with a continuing mission to meet housing need and end homelessness. An exciting opportunity has become available to join the successful visiting support team working in Christchurch, supporting young people aged 18 -21.


The 37.5-hour post is Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm


This exciting and varied role will involve:

· supporting young people with housing related support to develop skills for independent living and maintaining their own tenancy.

· opportunities to extend relationships with external agencies to provide the relevant support to meet the needs and aspirations of the young person.

. support young people to develop goals and plans in education, training and employment, and move-on.

· creation and delivery of innovative, fun activities in which life learning is paramount to the personal development of the customer.


You will have excellent communication and engagement skills that enable young people to become confident, resilient and personally empowered on their journey to independence. You will need to be pro-active in your role, with the ability to work independently.


The successful applicant will have a full scheme induction and be supported within a service that strives to achieve positive outcomes for clients on a daily basis. Experience of working with young people with multiple needs would be an advantage but not essential.

We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about supporting people. You need to be passionate and creative in all you do, always looking to grow and improve personal competences and experiences.


DBS checks are required for roles where you will be working with or have lone contact with Vulnerable Adults and Children. This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.


BCHA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment


Ability to lone work; following internal guidance and safety procedures

Ability to manage young people’s behaviour in line with risk management plans and with aim of minimising exclusions/unplanned departures

Ability to liaise and work cohesively with internal and external groups, forum and partners

Experience writing basic reports, letters and other correspondence

Moderate level of IT literacy including email, Word


Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm

Based in Christchurch
